Introducing An Original Cocktail: The Irish Movie Star

St. Patrick’s Day is easily one of our favorite times of the year here at BayTowne Wine & Spirits. Ireland has such a rich distilling history, and we are incredibly pleased to be able to honor that in curating a selection of some of their finest spirits. Several decades ago, such a curation would not have been much of an endeavor, as the Irish whiskey industry was in crisis. Thanks to the power of unification then and the power of innovation now, Irish spirits are now thriving and we have more than our fair share of delicious offerings to choose from.

One of the new additions most near and dear to us is Barry’s Irish Cream. Created by Danny and Jessica Barry, the owners of the beloved and renowned Barry’s Old School Irish pub, the Irish cream is a point of immense local pride, and with good reason! It’s produced for the Barry family at the Merry’s facility in County Tipperary, and stands apart in its distinctly vanilla forward profile. Barry’s is a truly high quality Irish cream with a wide diversity of applications. We used it to craft an original mix of our own to celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day. Marrying Barry’s vanilla notes with Giffard’s passion fruit liqueur and the rounded stone fruit notes of Lost Irish whiskey, we present the Irish Movie Star. It’s an homage to Ireland’s contribution to film over the years, to honor actors like David Kelly, Ruth Negga, Brendan Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, and Saoirse Ronan. Just as Irish spirits contribute so much to the global spirits scene, the work of Irish actors greatly enriches global cinema. So raise a glass to everything Ireland is so gracious to give us, we’re all genuinely lucky for it! Sláinte!
