In-Store Tasting: Codigo Tequila & Del Maguey Mezcal (past)
Codigo Tequila comes from a heritage distillery in Amatitan, in the Los Bajos region. This distillery has seen consistent local popularity for years, but within the last few years the Codigo brand was founded on the basis of bringing these highly prized spirits to an international audience. We at BayTowne Wine & Spirits carry their blanco tequila and their Rosa tequila. The Rosa stands apart in that it spends one month resting in French White Oak Napa Valley wine barrels, imparting a very light influence of red fruit unique within the category. The Codigo tequilas will be presented alongside Del Maguey Vida mezcal. Vida was founded by author Ron Cooper as he fell in love with Mexico's native spirit and all its diverse intricacies. He was largely responsible for introducing the spirit category to the American market, and Del Maguey Vida continues to be one of the most ubiquitous and influential bottles of mezcal around.
